Math Facts Required for Second, Third and Fourth Quarter

To receive a proficient grade in your report cards:
Second grade students for second and third quarter: You need to know or be able to figure out without counting all addition facts up to 12 ( For instance, if you know that 5+5=10 you could figure out that 5 + 6 is one more or 11).

Start by practicing doubles and doubles +1.

 

Second grade students for fourth quarter (or to receive an “advanced” for second or third quarter):

All addition facts to 20 (you can use doubles or 10’s facts or other strategies to figure out the facts, but no counting allowed!!),

 

Third Grade students for third quarter:

All addition facts to 20 (you can use doubles or 10’s facts or other strategies to figure out the facts, but no counting allowed!!),

All subtraction facts with a difference of 1, 2 or 3 (such as 19-3)

Multiplication facts for x 2 and x 5.

 

Third Grade students for fourth quarter (or to received an “advanced” for second or third quarter:

All addition facts and all subtraction facts to 20 (using recall or strategies about number relationships, such as 7+5=12 so 12-5 must equal 7 or since 17-10=7, 17-9 must equal 8, etc.)

Multiplication facts x2, x3, x4, x5. You can use a strategy such as 5x5=25, so 5x6 must be 30, but not repeated addition such as 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
